Koi Pond

One of my favorite hobbies is water gardening.  The koi pond was already installed in the back yard when I bought my cottage in 2003.  I have really enjoyed everything about this pond.  It is so calming to sit on the bench beside the pond and listen to the water cascading over the waterfall.  At the farmer's coop here in Greenville, you can purchase koi.  There is a fish truck that comes from a fish farm in Arkansas.  You can pick out your fish, and the driver catches them in a net, and then transfers them to a water and oxygen filled plastic bag.  Koi grow quickly, and some of them can grow to three feet in length.

The white fish with the red spot on his head is my favorite.  I bought him at the Walmart pet dept.  He was so tiny, less than four inches long.   I named him Dothead.  He has grown so much.
